Introduction

The Olympic Games are very special athletic events that happen every 4 years around the world.  Many aspects of the Olympics have changed since it first started in 776 BC (over 2,700 years ago). Back then the Greeks only had one event called a sprint (a short run that was called a “stade”).  Today we have over 46 different events in the summer and winter Olympic Games.  Below you will see a time line of where the Olympics has been hosted starting with the year 1896 all the way up to the year 2016.
